~ A Signature Offering of Affordable Acupuncture Treatments in a Calm, Semi-Private Space ~
Community Acupuncture
Tsumugi Healing Arts is committed to making meaningful care more accessible—without cutting corners on quality.
Community acupuncture (also known as group acupuncture) offers one way to do just that. In these sessions, you’ll receive individualized treatment in a shared space with only a few others. By quietly treating several people at once, we’re able to lower the cost for each person while still offering thoughtful, focused care.
It’s a calm, quietly held environment. Just rest, gentle needles, and time to land for OS updates. Many people find the shared space surprisingly comforting, less clinical, more human.

What Is Community Acupuncture?
Community acupuncture is a signature approach to making regular treatment more accessible.
Community acupuncture offers individualized treatment in a quietly held group setting. You’re receiving real, personalized care—but by sharing the space with others, we’re able to keep costs lower without cutting corners.
This isn’t just a practical model. It’s a healing one, and in some ways, a quietly radical one. It invites us to slow down, share space, and remember that we don’t have to heal in isolation.
Have you ever felt calmer just by sitting near someone at ease? That’s your nervous system co-regulating. When one body shifts into rest-and-digest mode, it often creates a ripple, others around begin to soften too.
That’s what happens in a good community acupuncture room.
Many people choose community sessions because they allow for more frequent care, which is often the key to real, lasting change. And the small group setting (we cap it at just 3 people per time slot) offers a kind of quiet companionship: not too close, not too far. Just right.
It’s so wonderful to experience and witness.

When a Private Session Might Be Better
Some care just needs more time and space.
You’ll want to book privately if you need:
Breech presentation care (which involves moxibustion and hands-on work)
Herbal consultations or prescriptions
Strategy-based care or longer discussions
Diagnostic work that needs more time and focus
Bodywork or treatments that can’t be done fully clothed
If you’re not sure which format makes sense, that’s okay. Most people don’t know until they start. You can always begin with a private intake. We’ll guide you from there.
How Community Acupuncture Works
Step1: Online Intake (New to Community Acupuncture or Returning After 3+ Months)
Your privacy is essential, and understanding your health story helps us provide truly individualized care.
All new patients or those returning after more than 3+ months: begin with a 30-minute private online intake (video). During this time, we’ll review your health history, current concerns, and goals in detail.
Intake is valid for 3 month. So be sure to book a Community Acupuncture session within that timeframe.
This intake focuses on gathering information and planning your acupuncture treatment only: Lifestyle advice, dietary guidance, herbal medicine, and other therapeutic strategies are not included in this session but can be arranged separately if desired.
If you’ve received private or community acupuncture with us in the past 3 months, you don’t need a new intake: your information and treatment plan is considered current.
Step 2: In-Person Group Treatments
Up to 3 people will be welcomed into the space together and will start and finish around the same time.
We’ll quietly check in with you for any updates and confirm your plan for the day.
You remain fully clothed. Needles may be placed on the head, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet.
Needle-free options (small seeds or press-on patches) are available if you prefer.
No bodywork, herbal prescriptions, or extended discussion are provided during community sessions.
Once needles are placed, you’ll rest comfortably in a softly lit room for 20-40 minutes, depending on your needs and the flow of the group.
The atmosphere is quiet and respectful. Conversation is minimal.
Accessibility Note:
Our office is on the third floor of a walk-up building. If you have mobility concerns, please contact us to discuss options.
Step 3: Online Re-Evaluation
From time to time (usually after 10 sessions or every 3 months), we’ll schedule an online check-in to ensure your treatment plan stays appropriate and responsive to your needs.
Session length may vary depending on the individual needs and circumstances.

Great question!
TCM acupuncture isn’t just about where it hurts—it’s about why it hurts.
We work with channels that influence organ systems, circulation, tension patterns, and even how your body responds to stress. For example, your ear contains a full map of the body—including the spine, organs, and brain. The same is true for the arms and legs. You don’t need a needle in your back to treat back pain.
This isn’t dry needling. It’s whole-system acupuncture. And it often works in ways that surprise people.
-
A great question—and one that gets to the heart of what TCM really is.
At Tsumugi, we see acupuncture as just one part of your care. Traditional Chinese Medicine
includes dietary guidance, herbal formulas, lifestyle adjustments, and ongoing collaboration. Those pieces—the ones that happen outside the treatment room—are often the most transformative.
Private sessions give us the time and space to go deeper. We can talk, review progress, and develop a strategy that fits your life. These sessions are ideal when you need more context, clarity, or change.
Community acupuncture is for rest and receiving for OS updates. It’s gentle, focused, and deeply effective—but it doesn’t include the whole picture. That’s why many people use both models: acupuncture in community, and private sessions (in-person or online) when more support is needed.
-
Yes, absolutely!
If you’d like to begin with a full session—where we can dive into strategies like lifestyle support, herbal medicine, dietary therapy, or education—you’re more than welcome to do so. It can be a great way to set the stage for steady, meaningful change, since you’ll be supporting your health both inside and outside the treatment room while receiving acupuncture in the shared healing space.
